Global Campaign Against Crown Holdings - Take-Backs No More

What if your boss told you you're the most productive, and then tried to freeze your pay?

United Steelworkers (USW) members in Toronto, Canada working at the multi-national packaging company Crown Holdings have been on strike to defend their pay and conditions for four months.

More information:

Crown Holdings, which almost doubled its profits in 2012, is a U.S.-based multinational company that produces cans for beverage and food containers in 149 countries. Members of USW Local 9176 have drawn a line in the sand and are now leading the Take-Backs No More campaign to stop years of Crown trying to build its profits on the backs of workers.

Over 120 members of USW Local Union 9176 in Toronto were forced on strike on September 6, 2013, after Crown demanded the elimination of a cost of living allowance (COLA), the establishment of a permanent two-tier wage system, wage cuts as high as 42%, and the continuation of an already nine-year freeze on pensions. These demands came soon after Crown gave these union members an achievement award for their "dedication, commitment, teamwork and personal accountability."

The USW is building a global union network to stop Crown's attacks and is garnering widespread support. Union members all over the world understand that a strong economy, healthy communities, and viable corporations are built on decent wages, benefits and working conditions. Stopping Crown's attack in Toronto is merely the first step in improving the lives of workers, union and non-union, throughout Crown's operations.

The USW is holding all the directors of Crown Holdings responsible for this attack. Arnold Donald is the CEO of Carnival Corporation and a key director of Crown.
